Agriculture and Water Rights

New Mexico’s farmers and ranchers are the backbone of our rural communities and a vital part of our state’s economy. In Congress, I will fight to protect our agricultural heritage by defending private property rights, reducing burdensome federal regulations, and ensuring our producers have access to the tools they need to thrive. Water is life in the West, and I will work to preserve our state’s water rights from federal overreach and uphold state-led solutions that respect local input and New Mexico’s unique needs.

Policy Priorities:

  • Defend traditional water rights and oppose federal attempts to override state water compacts
  • Support voluntary conservation and infrastructure investment in rural irrigation systems
  • Cut red tape on agriculture, ranching, and land management practices
  • Advocate for greater access to federal farm support programs for New Mexico producers
  • Stand up to radical environmental policies that threaten grazing and land use rights
